Potter Andrew R. McGarva

ABOUT

I am a scientist and professor with a need to express myself artistically and have chosen clay as my medium. As a potter I am drawn to classic forms and the re-creation of museum pieces that grab my attention.

I have recently been drawn to Japanese and Korean traditions in the art and function of ceramic pottery.  I specialize in teabowls and presentation platters as well as distinctive flower vases and textured bowls of various sizes.

My "Chawan and Tomobako" entry to the Pekin Days Art Show (largest juried art show in ND) took FIRST PLACE in the Pottery Division, June 2013!!

My other passions include sailing, golf, cycling, nordic and alpine skiing, ice hockey, camping, cooking, music, cars, beer, surfing, horse riding, teaching psychology, gardening, childrearing, traveling, SCUBA & snorkeling, hiking, fishing, movies, loafing, good food..........
